Since you have been an assistant principal earlier – what is your favorite part of the job?
“The things that I like the most about my job are the students and the teachers. I really enjoy children and their company and working with them makes going to work everyday something I look forward to. Teachers are the best workmates to have in my view. They are creative, dedicated and passionate about their subjects and their students. I am always inspired by them.”

What is the most important thing you will focus on as the principal of IES Österåker?
“There are so many things that I will be focusing on as principal of IES Österåker, but one thing that I intend to make a focus for everyone is that we have a school where students thrive. That we build a community with a culture of respect and support for each and every student. It is in this environment that children can explore and grow and challenge themselves.”

How did you end up in Sweden?
“I came to Sweden with my husband who I met while we were in University. He was there on a Tennis scholarship. We moved back and forth three times and the last one stuck in 2001.“

What do you do outside of work?
“Outside of work I like to do a lot of things, especially socialising with friends. I have a beautiful sweet golden retriever who joins me on daily walks and on the golf course. I play paddle and like to ride my mountain bike. I love to cook and BBQ for friends and family. From time to time I like to paint mostly watercolors. My favorite place to be is outdoors, I learned very early on that if you have the correct clothing all weather is good weather so that is my motto.”

Tell us one thing that not many people know about you?
“I grew up in Southern California and my family spent the weekends either in the Mojave Desert riding dirt bikes or on the Colorado River water skiing or up in the Mountains driving off-road in Blazers and Baja Bugs.”
